Sow at the end of July and plant the seedlings 6-8 weeks later after the last Spring frost (about mid- September).
Collect used milk bottles or juice bottles to be seedling pots. Punch holes into the base of the pot for drainage, and place on a dish. Use a seedling potting mix, like Yatesยฎ Seed Raising Mix, to help your seedlings grow. Remember to label your pots and keep the seed packets! Come Springtime you want to know what youโre planting.
Keep the soil moist and warm by placing the pots on a well-lit windowsill.
Gardeners can increase humidity for quicker germination by loosely covering pots in plastic wrap.
Home gardeners can sow:

Gardeners planning to plant any new woody shrubs, like roses, or trees in the garden can prepare the soil in the Winter. Prepare a planting hole by mixing in a compost- manure mix where you plan to put your new Spring plants. After harvest, gardeners can prepare garden beds using a similar method for the Spring planting.
