On the 1st and 2nd of August, Yenda Producers agronomists and growers joined over 250 growers and industry representatives at the 2019 SunRice Industry Awards Dinner following the Rice Growers Association Conference during the day.

Yenda Producers is proud to announce that growers Brett and Louise Turner won the highest yield crop for the 2018/19 season with a Reiziq crop yielding 15.4t/Ha, a great result in a tough year with record heat waves and low water allocation. This yield is 31% above the industry average in the Murrumbidgee for the 2019 season.

Special mentions go to fellow Yenda Prods growers Frank and Linda Quarisa, and Steve and Jackie Cremasco who were both finalists in the SunRice Grower of the Year Awards. Both growers only narrowly missed out on the award that was won by Jerilderie growers Peter and Renee Burke. The award recognises several aspects of their farming enterprise including:

  • Production and agronomy
  • Water use efficiency
  • Innovation and technology
  • Business management
  • Sustainability
  • WH&S and industry
  • Community involvement

It is a great achievement for the growers to have been nominated for the award and illustrates their commitment to a productive, profitable and sustainable rice industry now and into the future.
