JASON MACCARTIE, OPERATIONS MANAGER

Jason MacCartie grew up in a farming family, made of mainly sugarcane growers between north Queensland and southern New South Wales. He started his career at a pump manufacturer at 17 followed by hands-on trade work for the next 15 years. Moving on to design and project management, Jason has been involved in a range of pipeline projects and assisted with a $40M design management project.

Jason’s industry passion is to ensure that we utilise our resources effectively, using the correct amount of water with real-time control, monitoring and modelling. Over/under irrigation is a real challenge for farmers having increased input costs and he encourages deficit irrigation where possible. The RWE passion to “do the job right” appealed to Jason and he wants to continue developing high-quality water projects that saves customers time and money.

One of the main draw cards of Griffith was the opportunity to get involved in the community as Jason’s previous project-based or fly-in fly-out roles have restricted past opportunities. Griffith resembles the local farming community where Jason grew up and he is excited to join a few local clubs or groups. Jason enjoys cycling, kayaking, Adventure Racing Photography, and he can’t wait to learn how to make good salami. As co-founder of Believe in a Cause, Jason also spends his spare time helping others where he can.
