Winter gardening is focused on home garden maintenance and preparing your garden for spring. Winter is the perfect time for tidying up the garden by pruning back plants, tidying up trees and trimming hedges.
By now, your soup garden planted in Autumn will be halfway to harvest. You can help the garden along by applying a NPK fertiliser or seaweed extract. Spreading out mulch will shield your plants from the Winter chill and protect plant roots from freezing – especially important for root vegetables.
Winter weather can be harmful to potted plants more suited for warm weather. Moving your potted plants onto the porch or next to windbreaks can better protect the plant from chilly winds.
