World Food Day 2020

For World Food Day, Yenda Prods is celebrating our #LocalFoodHeroes – those who have made sure that food makes it from the farm to the table.
The #WorldFoodDay theme is ‘Grow, Nourish, Sustain, Together. Our actions are our future.’, which is at the core of the Yenda Producers Co-operative Society values.
The rich soils of the Riverina are home to an abundance of fresh produce, earning the southern NSW region the title of Australia’s premier food bowl. The Riverina produces 90% of the state’s citrus, 80% of the state’s wine grapes, and is a hive for stone fruit, vegetables, canola, nuts, lamb, beef, chicken, wheat and rice.

There is a shift happening in our local region, led by innovative growers and businesses, to provide new ways to grow, market and use our local produce. This movement is creating opportunities for growth as producers and industries, as well as developing unique agritourism in our local area.
Yenda Prod’s is proud to support our local growers and provide assistance through the production cycle. Our members, growers and staff play an integral role in the growth of our industries and region alike, allowing us to contribute to our local community and develop production and marketing channels for our small businesses.
Consider this a small reminder to help support our #LocalFoodHeroes:
- Choose local by buying fresh, locally grown produce, you are supporting local farms and families, as well as your local economy.
- Choose seasonal produce so you can enjoy riper, tastier and more nutritious food; and you’ll be reducing your carbon footprint.
We encourage you to share your home grown produce and use the hashtag #YendaProdsFoodHeroes
*please make sure the post is public so we can see your accomplishments.
